This trendy brimmed summer hat crochet pattern with mod circles and rounds is named after the famous French beach resort, Pampelonne. I spent many summers there as a kid, without even knowing that it was called that. It’s just south of St Tropez, in the South of France. Sounds all very glamorous, but to me, it equates to ‘happy times’ in the sand. And, meanwhile, this hat will wear equally well on a summers day in London avoiding my hair just flying all over.
Crochet summer hat design.
Now, more often in my own garden than at the beach, I love the hat just the same, and find it’s excellent for gardening as well as lounging around, reading, keeping the sun out of my face.
This pattern is written in 1 size and will fit most. Meanwhile, suggestions on how to make the hat smaller/larger are provided in the pattern. This is an easy pattern, albeit not for absolute novices. I use US-crochet terminology in all my patterns and write in English.
