Candy Corn Owl Mug Rugs
This owls are a lovely a seasonal quilting design idea.

Cohost to my prior linky party, Navy Wifey Peters shared how she made these fun owl mug rugs. With the candy cane fabric choices, I think they are great for Halloween without being so ‘out there’. Using other fabrics, they will be fun, year round.
Navy Wifey’s mother received them as a handmade gift for her birthday. “My mom likes when I make stuff for her” says Navy. “She likes candy corn-colors, so I made her a couple sets of candy corn mug rugs.” Plus, Navy likes making owls, and voila, the combination was made.
How to Make Owl Mug Rugs
There is no actual pattern or anything but you can see they are a simple construction and with a pen and paper, I think you can make your own candy-cane owl design to be just like it. Right?
Some Note from Navy Wifey
At a trip to JoAnn, Navy scored some yellow, orange, white, and candy corn fabric and put the fabric to use for the mug rugs. “I used candy corn fabric for the backing and I wrapped it around to create a candy corn border instead of using bias tape.” explains Navy Wifey Peters. Candy corn fabric for the wings and the back, and be sure to make striking owl eyes and beak.
Design tip: make pockets out of the owl wings, by simply not stitching them through. Easy peasy.
