These are mostly advertising and data management companies, i.e. most are in the business of simply serving personalised ads for Google and related parties.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

We have a few users that were previously able to register on our site as customers. For them, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you sign up for our newsletter, e.g. to obtain a pattern or otherwise, you will be added to our mailing list. We hold your newsletter subscriber info in aWeber. We send email newsletters infrequently (approximately 2-3 per year), but we may increase this frequency (approximately monthly or bi-weekly) once we get more resources and time to do so. We require double-opt in to this newsletter, so that there’s no mistake: you signed up. :-) If you remain inactive as a subscriber we will remove you from our database after 6 years.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Our sites are hosted with Siteground and their servers are based in London, UK. Beyond our Google, Amazon, SharaSales and Awin

Your contact information

If you purchase from this site, your contact information will be held with WooCommerce on this site. If you used Paypal, they will also hold your contact information.

Additional information

How we protect your data

Aweber, where your email contact data is stored, is a secure email marketing platform. On the website we use the robust Divi WordPress theme software plus additional security plugins. We chose Paypal and WooCommerce for our checkout, both are of industry standard for secure online payments.

What data breach procedures we have in place

If you believe me make an error in protecting your data, please contact us as soon as possible so we can instantly remedy the situation.

What third parties we receive data from

We obtain data from several analytics providers via plugins and connectors, such as Google Analytics, Clicky, (Orange, at times) etc.  This will allow us to analyse our website traffic mostly on an aggregate basis, which in terms helps us to optimise our site.

We also obtain insights of what you are purchasing from us via our affiliates, e.g. LoveCrafts, Shareasale and Amazon. LoveCrafts is UK-focused and most likely holds its servers here.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

We don’t make automated decisions. For our newsletters, we filter our database for readers who have expressed interest in a particular hobby, such as knitting. This helps us to provide relevant articles in the newsletters that are actually of interest to readers.

Industry regulatory disclosure requirements

There are no additional industry regulatory requirements that we are aware of.
