:: Sophisticated Vintage Paper Dresses :: The paper dress history spans centuries. Making paper dresses has been around for long time. Because of this, it’s kind of fun to have a look at some vintage paper dresses, to get your creative juices going, to create our own paper dress. I have scoured around for some examples, which I am featuring here today.
The materials used for paper dresses as well as their treatment transformed over time. In the ‘20s they used plain crepe paper for the vintage theater costume dress (picture on the left below). However, in the ‘60s paper dresses (see sample dress on the right below) were made with fortified paper which received a coating. This treatment made the paper washable and (almost) waterproof.
