* DIY Haunted bird houses *
oH…Haunted Houses …. ahhhh….. oooh….
Today I’d like to feature a DIY project to make haunted bird houses. This Halloween decoration was made by Kelli & Kristi, twin sisters who blog at OllyJane. Their haunted houses are really gorgeous and original.
A detailed tutorial is offered, but I always like a quick how-to here to see if you’d like to make this project.
Quick 1,2,3 How-to Instructions
1. Purchase DIY Wood Birdhouses and wooden candle sticks
, and glue one on top of the other. Vary sizes by adding a bottom piece to one candle stick, cutting of a piece of another and leaving another house flat on the surface. As you wish.
2. In black or smokey grey, purple orange or other Halloween-y colors, paint your new birdhouses with either this acrylic art & craft paint, or better, this great set of environmentally friendly craft paint:
3. Now, make your houses adorable and/or haunted through decoupage with Halloween paper, glitter glue
and other decorative Halloween miniatures.

Crafting Tips for this Halloween Project
The environmentalist in me suggest that you complement these purchased items with old candle sticks, paint, paper, and other bits and pieces already in your home or garage.
In case you wonder, it looks to me that this wreath was made from Halloween paper baking cups. I’d transform a metal hanger into a wreath and then simply string the paper on.
To give further depth to this Halloween home decor vignette, I suggest the haunted house silhouette that I made before, to frame and place behind the birdhouse display, to stick on pumpkins for carving or to decorate your home for a Halloween party…
