Let’s get ready for some Fall- Winter projects… like making hats! For those of you who love classics, this free knitting pattern Fair Isle hat for winter hat is a winner. This hat is both festive and beautiful. An intermediate pattern, that is free for you to download.
It looks like an intermediate level pattern, as it has both stripes, chevron, dots and snowflakes woven into the pattern. If you don’t dare the full-on fair isle motif, I suggest you make this in a simpler striped version first. Then I’ll tackle the snowflakes, and then the motif on top. The reason for this order is that on top, you already have the decreasing pattern to deal with. Anyhow, choose as you wish.
Why not give it a try? It’s a very pretty hat and working with colors is actually a lot of fun.
- Knitting Needle Size: 7 or 4.5 mm, Circular Knitting Needles or Double-Pointed Knitting Needles as this is a ‘knitting in the round’- project.
- Yarn Weight: (4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches). I ‘d say you don’t need more than 1 skein of each color.
