10 Top DIY Craft Tutorials

I thought to showcase for you my top 10 favorite DIY & craft tutorials that have been entered into the Fine Craft Guild DIY Tutorial linky parties so far.

Here they are.

wooden table tutorial

The log table we NEED, it’s so gorgeous, by Pot Holes and Panty Hose

Why I chose this:

In Canada I saw a lovely designer log table, that is still in my mind. It was painted glossy bright red, which contrasted deliciously with the natural shape of the wood. I recall it cost several thousand dollars.

So, when I saw this table, I was instantly reminder that I love this table.

Guest Bedroom

UGLY telephone table turned fabulous bench by The Painted Hive

Why I chose this:

What I particularly love about this bench is how it reuses 100% recycled materials, and how it is such a huge aesthetic transformation.

texture paint clock tutorial

How to use Texture Paste in your craft, to make lovely finishes like on this glorious clock and other items
by Sew Cake Made

Why I chose this: This is good example of the kind of tutorial we are after for our linky party: Full of what to do, and what not to do, honest. It comes from the kitchen table or craft room, spurring on creativity and trial in others, and setting them up for success.

Personally I used gesso, sand and texture paste in my artwork, and this tutorial was a lovely reminder to get back to it as it sure makes for professional-looking artistic flair.

rag flower quilt free pattern

Ruffled Flower Rag Quilt Pattern by I Am Only 1 Woman

The free downloadable quilt pattern is actually here

Why I chose this:

First of all, this is a gorgeous quilt.  I prefer it if linky-party- members don’t post things that are for sale, even though this one is.  What’s great about this entry though, is that This 1 Woman freely shares essentially part of her base pattern (with tips and hints) on how to make rag quilts. Which I think is very generous because that seems to be her livelihood. Once you have this one down pat, you can venture out and make others.

finger print pendant - easy kids craft

Finger Print Clay Jewels for moms, by Kimbo Crafts

Why I choose this:

Easy peasy summer craft projects to do with the kids at home in a single afternoon and have time to watch a bit of TV too.

I love the keepsake-ness of this craft and consider it a great gift, for moms, dads, and grandparents too

fathers day key tags

Stamped Washer Masculine Personal Accessories for Dads by Girl in Air

Why I choose this:

I like the current stamped silver jewelry craze for women.

This is the masculine version.

7.

butterfly_mobile

Butterfly Paper Mobile by Megity’s Handmade

Why I chose this:
Well, how can I not?! It’s fluttery and frivolous. A seemingly* innocent mobile to hang near a baby’s bed.

* TIP: I am always very weary with things (like this) hanging above the baby bed for safety reasons. I would not want to have sturdy fishing line accidentally dropping into my baby’s bed. However, it is very cute, and you can quite possibly hang it safely near the crib where the baby can see it.

how to make fabric flowers

Jersey knit flowers by A Little Lovely Blog

Why I chose this:

i can see these flowers used completely differently rather than in a vase with sticks. How I will use them, will be a surprise I’ll share on the blog with you in some future time.

The tutorial is really easy and simple, so I now have a reference on how to make them in my links library.

9.

can lid art
Can Lid Scrapbooking Fridge Magnets that Make Great Momentos, by the 12 Crafts till XMAS

Why I chose this:
It’s an easy craft, a kids craft even,  it uses recyclables,
it’s fun and does not take too long to complete.

Perfect craft project for a summer cottage afternoon with the kids.

iloveamerica4thjulycraft

Happy 4th of July Home Decoration Crafts by Stone Creek Market

Why I chose this:

I could swear that I saw a how-to tutorial here when I visited this site before, and  I loved the simplicity of it: take the blocks, paint them blue, sand them down and add simple vinyl letters. (Use your Cricut or Silhouette machine if you have one). I love this 4th of July celebration and also the notion of this blog owner of creating ‘vignettes’ one one’s home. Very clever.

Heads Up, Everyone!
